Mihaela Jordanova is Associate Professor in classical languages at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". She is a graduate of the National Classical Lyceum and has studied Classical Philology at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". Doctor Jordanova specialized History of Greek Culture at the University of Vienna. She has been for many years a university lecturer in Classical Languages and Culture of Ancient Greece and Thrace. Author of the monograph Hellenic Orphic Testimonies and of numerous publications on Ancient Greek and Thracian culture. Member of the Managing Board of the Bulgarian Association for the Study of Antiquity. She is also known to the Bulgarian public for her translations of Sources for Thrace and the Thracians and Orphic Fragments.
The proposed presentation exposes a series of lectures devoted to the Thracian-Greek religious model of Dionysian festivity presented during seminars on ancient religion in Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". and the New Bulgarian University. From ancient sources was reconstructed a cult reality associated with early forms of orgiastic mysticism and initial theoretical conclusions were drawn out about phenomenology of the problem. The focus on it is due to the large interest that Bulgarian students from the humanities have shown to the problems of Thracian religion.
